Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Any tips for passport pictures with a 9 month old?

Do they have the same requirements as adults (no teeth, etc)?  I'm not sure if I can get DS to focus on the camera and NOT laugh, he is such a giggly kid.  This could be a PIA!  Has anyone else done their LO's passport pictures recently?

  • I don't think there is a no teeth requirement?  I've always full-on smiled in mine!

My kids got theirs over the summer at about 6 months and 3.5 years.  For DD, they left her in her carseat and just put a white towel behind her head.  Easy peasy!

  • We got my DDs picture taken at Walgreens. They just laid her down on a white o poster board and took her picture from above.
  • We just did ours at the post office, and it was really easy.  DS sat in the chair, and we stood behind the photographer with one of his toys so that he would look in the direction of the camera, and it worked out great.

I've also never heard anything about not being able to show your teeth.  You can definitely see mine!

  • Same requirements as adults.

I think the "no teeth" thing is more of a suggestion and it's more recent.  The facial recognition systems work better when there are no teeth showing (My DH works for the company that makes those systems).

We put my DS on a white sheet to take the picture.  Both ears must be showing.  No crying.  No pacifiers.  No hats.
