I've tried introducing milk to LO and she will have nothing to do with it. I received a $12 formula check for the Enfagrow but I've never heard anything about it.
If you plan on using it, has your doc suggested it?
I'm not sure yet. I don't think I'll use it, but a friend of mine is considering using it for when she's on the go. A lot of restaurants don't carry whole milk, and it's crazy expensive to stop at a convenience store to get one of the small bottles, so she was thinking about keeping some with her so her LO could have something with nutrients (as opposed to just water) when they are on the go for the day. That way she doesn't have to worry about refrigeration. I'm going to see how it goes. I don't think I'd do all Enfagrow and no milk, though. Just as a backup when I can't get milk.
We're actually using it and I really like it. My situation is a bit different though. I live with the IL's and milk is usually scarce (they buy 4 gallons a week and it flies). So I began buying enfagrow because well, it beats buying milk almost everyday without arguing with someone over drinking it all..lol. DS likes it, and like someone mentioned, it's easier for "on the go". DS only drinks water, so I like that he gets some nutrients while we're out.
We switched from Enfamil Premium Lipil to Enfagrow this month for the same reason (got 2 $5.00 coupons) BUT once DS turns 1 year old (in 2 weeks) we are coming off formula all together.
We are starting the formula weaning this Saturday. Pedi said once DS turns a year old he will no longer need to be on formula and will have solids (baby food or table food) and then cows milk with the liquid vitamins in it.
So this Saturday will be 2 weeks before DS turns 1 year old. DS takes 8 ounces so we will start out with 2 ounces organic cow's milk mixed with 6 ounces of formula. 3 days later we will go up to 4 ounces organic cow's milk mixed with 4 ounces of formula. Again, 3 days later 6 ounces organic cow's milk mixed with 2 ounces formula and then finally 3 days later offer a full 8 ounce sippy cup of organic cow's milk.
Reason why you have to wean them from formula to milk is that breast milk and formula is full of sweet sugar flavoring and milk is not sweet at all. So you gradually transition to cow's milk until they don't even notice the difference. That's probly why your DD doesn't like the milk. It's not sweet. Try the gradual approach. Good luck!
I've been using it for a few months now because they didn't like regular formula when we switched from breastmilk. I hope to not need it after I introduce milk.
I'm using the unsweetened "older baby" Enfagrow formula right now. We've been using it for a month. It's part of the new "3-step" thing Enfamil is doing. They have a "newborn" formula, an "infant" formula, and a "10-36" month formula. We're doing step 3, but will only be using it until DS2 is a year old, which is 3 weeks from now.
