Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10.5 months old and no words yet-anyone else?

Scarlett does babble a lot but so far no purposeful words (she does say mama and dada but not at DH or I yet).  Anything else I've worried about in the past she's done on her own time so I'm not really worried-just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

  • We are a month older and still no real words. He says mama, dada, hi, and a few other things and babbles a bunch but the words aren't used properly.

  • No words here yet either.  Isn't it a little early for words?  I know some kids speak earlier then others, but I think this is still very early for most!

  • I thought it was early for words too but a couple kids in her daycare are using words so I wasn't sure.

  • Mine both "dada and mama and baba" fairly often but we arent close to any words at all.  I think its too early to even worry about that.

  • Emma doesn't say much. She babbles hi, mama, dada, and mum mum but other than that....not really anything spectacular.
  • Evie says "Mama" and "Dada" and that's it. I think she's trying to say "Dog" now, but it just sounds like "Duh" lol.

  • Ds will wave and say "hi" but that is about it. It is still really early for talking. ds#1 didn't really say much with a purpose until closer to 15 months.

  • DS is just a couple of weeks older, and he doesn't have real words.  Like most other posters say, he babbles mama, dada, hi and calls our dog Ah (his name is Roscoe, but apparently it's now Ah).  The past couple of weeks he's started to say buhbuhbuh and burying his head in my chest, so I'm assuming that's how he's saying 'boobie' or something.

  • OMG that new pic of Scarlett is DARLING!!!!!!! LOVE HER!

We're in the same boat. Sabrina babbles all day long, sings, etc but other than saying what sounds like Kitty Cat without the consonents at the cats, it's all babble. Dadadada, Daah-Da are her favorites. But everything is dada.

  • Kaitlyn is 12.5 months and only says, "mamamama"  "dadada-dee" and "nana" (short for banana)

    Doggy or puppy ="Gee"

  • About all we've got at this point is "yayayayayaya" and "bababababa." I think I heard "hi" once or twice, but it certainly wasn't on purpose. He had a period where he said "dadadadada" quite a bit, but has never even said "mamamama", let alone the two-syllable version.

  • No words here.  Eli says "mamamamamama" and "dadadadadada" and has just recently started saying "nananana" (not sure what that is), but definitely no purposeful words.

I remember being worried about DS1 not saying any words.  At 15 months, he really started saying words and associating them with objects ("ball," "boob"--thanks DH).  His language development took off at that point.  Within a month, he had close to 50 words.  He hasn't stopped talking since...

I'm sure she's just fine, Bio!  And what an adorable picture!  Love her curls.

  • The only thing DD has said is "bad" when she hears me yelling at the dog and telling him he's bad. She chimes in and will say "bad" but it's random. She hasn't said anything else, except "hi" and the baby babble.
  • DS only says "mama" and "dada" and babbles a bit but no real words.  My older son started saying words much earlier so I can't help but compare the two.  This thread is making me feel better, though!
