Rectal Temp?

I just cannot do it.  I mean if the Dr. said, for sure- you must do it-, then I would buck up and get it done.  But if my LO is feeling warm, I'm going under the arm.

 Are any of you uncomfortable with the idea of taking the temp rectally?

I bought a one second ear thermometer...it works just fine.

Nope.  We have a thermometer that has a special rectal attachment.  I take his temp at diaper changes & then clean the attachment w/ alcohol.

I used to do the underarm first, but that was a waste of time, so now it's just the pooper, until he's old enough to just use an ear one.

well there ya go.  If I hadn't read this post I wouldn't have gone to ask.com to look up age recommendations for ear thermometers...this board has not failed me.

It only goes in like 1/2 inch, just the tip really.  I've taken Ophelia's several times but only if I think shes warm or acting weird.
