Alright, GHM...

A car seat question!

L is getting too big for his car seat.  I couldn't tell you even what type it is.  It is Graco (I think) and my exILs bought it for L for his first christmas.  Probably something like this:

The top notches are right at his shoulders, so I know it is time to think of getting a bigger one with a 5 point harness.   My sister has said she will get him one for Christmas.

I have a 08 Ford escape, L is 3.5, mid 30 lbs, and, I have no idea how tall he is.

Want something that is going to last me a while as a 5 point harness.

Thanks!

  • I'm not GHM, but I'd recommend the Graco Nautilus.  L rides in one and it works great.  It harnesses up to 65lbs and can then become a belt-positioning booster and eventually a backless booster.

They're around $170, but periodically go on sale places.  Target just had it in their ad last week for $130.

  • Also not GHM here, but we bought our Nautilus last year for $135.  It was on sale at Amazon the monday after Thanksgiving.

ditto. Jake loves the side cubbys and built in cup holder. I love how easy it is to install/move, how tight I can get it in any vehicle (so far) and how easy Jake can buckle himself in but not unbuckle himself (I have zero issues unbuckling it tho). We will probably get another for Colin when he's ready.
  • Another vote for the Nautilus!  I love the one I have for DS and will be getting one for DD soon!

I have found Walmart has the best price and usually $0.97 shipping!

  • We have the Nautilus too! Love it!  It would get my vote over and over.

  • I'd go with a nauti, as well, but the evenflo maestro is another good idea, and much cheaper. Keep in mind that you don't know if either will fit him as a booster when the time comes, so you may or may not have to buy a dedicated booster in a few years. The good news is that you can get an excellent booster for about $40. You just never know if a booster will fit your kid correctly, or fit in your car correctly.
