We *try* to all eat together, but DS2 is in the throes of the food-chucking, fit-throwing Terrible Twos. When he's done, he's DONE, so sometimes mealtime only lasts a few minutes and by the time his plate is prepared and put in front of him and we get a chance to finally sit down, he's eaten his three bites and is over it. One of us usually ends up finishing up and the other cleans up DS2 and takes care of him. Whoever takes DS2 usually eats much later. Like, tonight, I ate after the boys were in bed -- at 8:30. I didn't mind, though, because I didn't want the pizza we were having anyway and just had a bowl of cereal -- that I wasn't interrupted while eating and didn't have to share with little begging birdies.
I said all together, but DH isn't here for lunch/dinner....and by the time I get everyone's food/drink/utensils/napkin/etc....my food is cold and the big kids are done. I can't remember the last time I got even luke warm food without microwave assistance.

I said all together too, but we have a similar situation in our house. By the time that everyone is seated, all the food on plates, I have replaced dropped utensils, gotten more milk, kicked the dog out of the dining room, sat back down, eaten a bite, gotten someone else more food, etc., etc., the kids are done eating, DH is done eating, and I still have 75% of my food left, and it's cold. Boo.
We do eat together, but I will usually serve the kids first and let them get started while I finish tossing the salad or any other last minute tasks. ML takes forever to eat, so the earlier she gets started, the better.
