Help me settle something between DH & I ![]()
We were talking about ideas for DDs first birthday (our families go BIG for first birthdays!) and I mentioned needing to find a place to have it (like a community center or something...). DH disagrees and thinks we should just have it in a park or in our backyard if its big enough (it will be around 40 people).
Here is the thing......it's in mid-June.....in TX!! We are both from TX but haven't lived there in almost 6 yrs (we move back in March). I think his memory of how hot the summers are has faded. He thinks mine has exaggerated!
WDYT? Would you do an outdoor party (we could rent a large tent for cover...) in June? I'm thinking the cake and guests would melt!
Re: Kwinters (and other S. TX ladies)
It normally reaches 100+ here in San Antonio by June so it would be really hot. And by the time you rent a tent and something to help cool the tent you will have spent as much as you would have renting somewhere.
There are some great places here to have birthday parties. Just Add Children and Inflatable Wonderland are both great because they have areas for little littles and bigger kids too.
um, yeah no way...
and if LO gets hot and tired and miserable and fussy then no one will enjoy the bday party....
Thank you ladies!
I think living in Chicago has made DH think fondly of TX summers (he is from Austin & I'm from Dallas). I on the other hand remember how much I hated them! Haha!
I think I'm going to just look for a decent place to host it & keep quiet about it around him.....when it is a million degrees out and we are having a blast in the AC I can give a big 'ol "I told you so"!
Hopefully I can find someplace decent & fairly cheap for a Sat in June! Our theme is "bedtime stories" and I'm already working on the details. I loved wedding planning and have looked forward to this ever since my BFP!
This. Your idea for a 1st bday party sounds so fun! DD has her first bday July 5 so we will be having an indoor party as well. We are originally from Chicago and I always loved outdoor summer bday parties...now it is too hot to have here! At least for now. Good luck with your planning!
