Babymoon...have we talked about this before?

I feel crazy but I think there was a post about babymoons a while back...but my mind is going quickly and I am not positive.

My DH and I want to go somewhere warm, but not Mexico cause we have been there before. We want something pretty decently priced! Any ideas and anyone else going anywhere??

Re: Babymoon...have we talked about this before?

  • I think there was one just a few days ago, maybe last week.

We are going away the week after Thanksgiving to St Martin with my family.  I would like to go away again just the two of us in Feb/Mar but MH isn't feeling it just yet. He'd rather spend the money on the house, which I can't argue against either.

OP, some other warm options for great prices are Dominican Republic and Jamaica.  I've been to DR twice and had a great time both times. This last time we stayed at the Majestic Colonial and loved it.

  • I just got back from Puerto Rico on Sunday, and am SO happy that I'll be back there in April, when I'm 31 weeks for a wedding, so that will be our babymoon.

We LOVED it there.  Round trip non-stop flights for $230 each, four star hotels for under $200 (you have to price hunt though!) and amazing restaurants and beaches.  I did a budget breakdown of what we spent on our trip, and I'd be happy to share it if you want.  Just post or PM me your email!

  • DH and I were talking about this yesterday...we are going to go to Prince Edward Island. We stopped there on our honeymoon with our cruise. It was wonderful. I cant wait to do it again.

  • I wanted to go on one since we have a vacation coming up, but DH thinks we should stay home and stare at eachother for a week even though we have plenty saved up... It will also be our 3 year anniversary.  :(  I wanted to go somewhere cooler like Boston or back to Colorado.  You could always come to San Antonio!! What about a Sandals Resort...Jamaica is always reasonable.  Either way, have fun on the babymoon!!

  • My hubby and I are going to Hawaii in January.  Not technically a babymoon since his parents are going, but they are paying for the whole trip so I can't complain.  I am so excited!!

  • Don't have an opinion on where to go, but you'll want to plan the trip in 2nd tri, maybe early 3rd.  Don't wait too long or else you'll feel very uncomfortable and won't want to travel anywhere.

  • When I was pregnant with #1 we went to Maui for 9 days, I was 25 weeks along.  It was awesome.  The only bad part was I couldn't do all the super cool stuff like ziplining and para-sailing.  There was still plenty to do and it was beautiful.

DH and I were already planning on going to Yosemite for our 5th anniversary so I am thinking we will be considering that our babymoon.

  • @Magenta728...we want to go back to Aruba because we went there on our Honeymoon! You should definitely go...it is the most amazing and beautiful and relaxing place ever!

    WE LOVED IT!

  • We really really want to go somewhere, but with some of our initial searching, it might just be too expensive. If we could go anytime, that'd be great and totally affordable, but since I work in a school, I'd have to go over winter break. Of course, prices double during that time. :(

We've looked at Jamaica (went for our HM and loved it),  Dominican Republic and Bahamas so far. Those seem like the most affordable in general.

  • Before the BFP, we were already planning a trip out to the East Coast in February to watch our favorite hockey team play in DC and NYC/NJ. I think that it now counts as our babymoon. But I'm going to try to get another babymoon to somewhere more sunny because I don't think a frigid East Coast vacation watching sports should count Stick out tongue
  • We booked a 1yr anniversary trip for the end of november which has now turned into an early babymoon. We're spending a few days in disney and then heading to the Bahama's. I've been there once, it's beautiful and relaxing and fairly reasonable price wise.
  • I think I replied to this last week.  We booked a trip to Austin, Texas before finding out I was pregnant.  So it's turned into a babymoon!  I am excited since I've never been although I've heard the night life is really good (boo for me).
  • I don't think we'll really be able to go anywhere- I need to keep basically all my annual leave next year for maternity leave.  :(  Maybe we'll make it up to NYC for a weekend though, since that's close....

  • I'd love to go somewhere tropical, like back to St. Lucia, but I don't think our schedules and pocket books will allow it. Huz is a teacher so he only has Spring Break and then his next break will start right before the baby comes.

Perhaps we can visit some family members in Scottsdale, AZ over spring break and do a spa day and nice dinner.

We live in Ohio and there is a touristy area nearby called Hocking Hills. Lots of nature trails, log cabins with hot tubs and spa services that will come to your cabin for manicures and massages. I thought it might be nice for a long weekend once the winter chill wears off.

Last resort: A night at a fancy hotel in town, take in a touring musical and eat at our favorite restaurant.?
