4cm dilated 80% effaced!

Hi ladies,

I'm 4cm dilated and 80% effaced. I feel like total crap and want to have this baby NOW (i'm sure many of you feel the same). My docs don't think i'll go till due date, and othersa are saying i'm not going to make it though the week, day bla bla bla.... tired of hearing it! I just want it to happen! I've been at 4cm for a week, and went up from 70% to 80% effacement in a week. So any ideas? Any experiences with this? BTW... this is my first baby, and i'm told being 4 cm is really unusual with first baby. Thoughts?

I have no advice! I am at 3cm and 80% and this is my first.

Who are these "others" who are saying you're not going to make it through the week?  I had a lady at Long John Silvers tell me I won't make it till November.

I was 3cm dilated around 37 weeks and 5cm around 39 weeks, and got induced at 41 weeks with DD...  But hope you'll have your baby sooner!

Omg! I agree! I don't want to wait another 2.5 weeks. I'm having contractions on and off all day, but apperantly they aren't strong enough to do anything. Grrr!

Walk, I feel like crap 2 but think that Im finally going into labor actually I don't know when it started because I didn't feel the contractions until they were already 4 min apart & lasting 1min 30 sec. I am waiting a while before I go in to make sure its the real deal. I hope so beause I was getting induced Friday any way. I so want to go on my on for once! So I know how you feel.

No real advice, just congrats on already being almost halfway dilated!  I was admitted to the hospital in labor at that point.  There are the usual things you can do to try to bring on labor (sex, walking, etc), but they're not going to work until your body is ready.  I hope you get your baby soon.

Sorry you aren't feeling good!

I found out at the beginning of the week that I am ~2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I also lost my mp and had my bloody show three days ago... The doctor I saw at the beginning of the week said she wouldn't be surprised if I 'had [our] baby in [our] hands tomorrow'. Three days later, nothing has happened...

I am walking, having sex, using EPO and drinking red raspberry leaf tea. As I am still before my due date, I am not going to take any further measures to 'get him out'. He will come in his time...

When I was pregnant with my first I was 4 cm for at least 4 weeks before I had him.  With this one I am at 3cm at 36 weeks.  Every person is different...

Sounds like you are almost there. I was 4cm the morniing my dd was born. Have sex, eat eggplant. Other than that it's a waiting game, but sounds like it could be any day. Good Luck.
