I posted on 0-3 but wanted to ask here as well. When should a baby be tracking? I've noticed that DS fixates on
ceiling fans and bright lights but doesn't really give me as much eye
contact and doesn't seem to track well. He won't track my finger or
hand and only somewhat tracks a rattle (more by moving his head than
his eyes). I looked this up online and lots of info on "early signs of
autism" came up, so now I have myself all worked up over something that
could potentially be normal. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: tracking objects?
I totally agree about google but it's so hard not to internet diagnose, especially as a first time parent! I need to not let myself get worked up over all of the "what's ifs". Then again, I guess if there is something wrong and I can identify it and treat it early, I'd want to.
I definitely plan to ask at the next pedi appt, but that isn't for another month.
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Throw away the books and forget google. First, every baby is different, second - 2 months is waaaay to young to be worried about such things. Believe me when i say that - i have been there and read and thought the same things:)
Don't feel bad,I am the same way, I was freaking out because my 5 mo would not do advances calculus (jk). LOL
Your baby is just fine and will start tracking and making more eye contact in no time
Don't worry! (easier said than done I know!)
DD started tracking around 3.5 months and didn't really get good/consistent with it until closer to 4 months! Your LO has plenty of time!
