VBAC

VBAC for delivery # 3 after 2 c/s?

I am not pregnant yet, but i do hope to have another baby with in the next year! My c/s was scheduled because i was having twins and I was considered high risk because of that and blood clotting disorder. Well my waterbroke 3 days prior (at 36 weeks). I was also told by my OB that they were both breech. Well my OB was not on call that night so they did an u/s on me in the OR as they prepped me and long behold they were not breech! I was pretty pissed! I still had to have c/s because they said my BP was high (i was freaking out because I said i wasn't ready). After an hour of trying to get the spinal in and over 22 attempts they couldn't do it and the one OB demended they stop because I was screaming like i was being murdered. I felt like my right side of my body was on fire and i could feel them hitting my bone with the needle. I was told they had to do general! over 1.5 later i woke up to smiling babies in my face but i was heart broken because I wasn't awake for their birth!

Almost exactly a year later I had Brady with general again and I really was given no choice said my hospital banned VBACS and the other closest hospital did as well!

Now I want to have a 4th but i really don't want a csection nor do i want an epidural/spinal because my ortho won't allow it because it caused more nerve damange (i have  herniated discs in my back)

Anyone have a VBAC after two c section?

Re: VBAC for delivery # 3 after 2 c/s?

  • I have not, but if I were to get pregnant again, we'd be in the same boat.  Luckily, I have a provider who is supportive, and encourages his patients to VBA2C.
  • I haven't but many women have. And ACOG changed their recommendations recently to include women with 2 prior low transverse scars. So hopefully things will start to change and it will be easier for women to find a provider. God luck!

  • I won't do it.  I'm pro-VBAC since the risk of uterine rupture is comprable to that of a 2nd c-section... but the risk is HIGHER for VBAC2C...

I AM PG w/#3 and the thought of a VBAC2C NEVER crossed my mind.  Read my birth story for Logan in my bio if interested in a failed VBAC birth story... to summarize, 12 hours of unmedicated labor- the doc twisting baby's cord around his neck and causing him oxygen deprivation and stroke, followed by surgeon knicking my uterine artery and a 2 week NICU stay- all because of failed VBAC...  and this was done at a nationally ranked top 10 US hospital!  Wonder what would have happened at a crappy hospital or at home-  VBAC2C is just not for me...
