Chicken pox vaccine and rash/bumps

DS got the chicken pox vaccine at his 1 year appointment (almost a month ago) and now has four raised, red bumps on his arm.  I really don't think they are bug bites but I'm not certain.

I know that catching a very mild form of chicken pox is a rare but possible side effect of the vaccine.  I called the nurse line and she didn't seem concerned.  Anyone else have a similar reaction?

Re: Chicken pox vaccine and rash/bumps

  • DD got little "faux" pox, as the doctor called them after her vaccine.  There were maybe 8 total on her neck, arms, and stomach.  It was closer to the shot, though, maybe 2 weeks.  I can't remember exactly.  They went away on their own and didn't see to cause her any distress.

  • My LO also broke out in small "pox" at the injection site.  It actually took about 2 weeks for them to go away.

  • Thanks.  He's running a low fever now; I think it might just be "faux" pox like you said!
