Cloth Diapering

1st order..what do you think?

I have all of these items in various carts but would like suggestions before I order. This is my 1st cloth order and my son is 15 months old. Once my twins arrive I will have 3 babies in diapers so I think cloth is the best option for us.

2 FuzziBunz

2 Bumgenius 4.0

2 softbums

1 monkey snuggles overnight

I want to try best bottomsbut the inserts are not in stock.

1 diaper pail liner

1 wet bag

Thoughts??

  • have you thought about doing a trial to see what works for you? You only have 6 diapers in the cart so that's only going to get you through 1 day and the monkey snuggles may not fit your toddler, the rise is kind of short ...

  • All the trials I found include prefolds which I am not interested in.

What should I try for overnight? My son is a very heavy wetter.

The softbums package I was ordering includes 6 inserts.

  • Is the Softbums an Omni?  If it's a pocket diaper it will only work once.  And Omni can apparently be used as an AI2 but I'll tell you in my experience I've never been able to use an AI2 more than once (the only exception being GroVia with biosoakers disposable inserts).   I think it's fine for trying out but I think if you maybe contacted Jillians Drawers and asked them about personalizing a trial pack that might work better.  I don't know that they'd do that, seems like it would be a hassle for them since so many people assume that they do not want to do prefolds, but it's worth a shot.  And FWIW, prefolds are awesome for NBs and would be super cost-effective and easy for NB twins.

I prefer the bububebe diapers overnight with wool overtop.  My son is much younger than yours but this works and is similar to what I used with my daughter (I no longer recommend the diaper I used with her because it broke down sitting for a couple of months before I pulled it out again and the WAHM was unwilling to try to fix).

  • Have you thought about doing cloth wipes?  Otherwise you'll need a trash can as well as a diaper pail.  You're washing diapers, might as well wash wipes too!  :D

Your right! Do you recommend any?

  • I've been using GroVia wipes.  They're really soft, but still have enough texture to get every messy bit.  They wash up really well.  I haven't tried any other brands, but I'm happy with these so there really is no reason to.

For solution I use baby bum drops.  I put it in a squirt bottle instead of a wipe warmer.
