One nap at 9 months?

The last 3 days it has been a fight to get more than one nap out of him and yesterday between 2 he only slept for 35 minutes total!!!  His naps have been awful and now he's been in his crib 25 minutes just making noise refusing to sleep.  Can it really happen this early?  If he was taking a decent nap at some point I wouldn't care but he isn't and it's making me crazy!

Re: One nap at 9 months?

  • Is he teething? Or learning a new skill (walking/talking/etc)? Those things can temporarily disrupt sleep patterns. I hope it's just a phase and he goes back to sleeping well for you (be it one or two naps) soon!

  • We've been at one nap for about a month now. It was hard at first, but she's settling into it nicely now. She sleeps for about 2-2.5 hours starting about noon. Sometimes on the weekend she'll take quickmorning nap, but only if we're in the car, trying to rock her and put her down is a no go

  • If DS wasn't crying for fussing, I would leave him in there until he fell asleep, going no longer than an hour.  It would sometimes take him 45 minutes to fall asleep and he would just lay there and play.  I figured he's getting "rest" time in there, with no toys or stimulation and that's good too.  If he never did sleep I would try again in an hour or 2.
  • V started taking just one nap a day around 9 months.  She's a bit mixed up now and often at home takes two naps but at school takes one.  Some nights she is tired but over all, she does okay!
