should I invite DD's soccer team to her b-day?

We don't know any of the kids outside of soccer but her b-day party will be the same day as the team's last game. DH is the coach too. So, I figured that hosting the kids and parents at DD's party might be a nice gesture. On the otherhand, I remembered that people don't necessarily like to get invites to kids b-day parties ;).

So, I'm conflicted...WWYD?

  • I wouldn't, but I always try to keep our bday parties relatively small because I think it can get out of hand (you invite more kids, then you have more parents and siblings to feed too!).

  • At this age I would say that you shouldn't feel like you have to since you only know them through soccer. A soccer team plus school/neighborhood friends might get kind of crazy :) Is she really going to be 4 already?!?

  • No, I wouldn't.  DS is in soccer and I'm not sure he even know any of the boys names other then the two he goes to school with.  I know I barely do!

  • I don't think I would. DS's soccer "seasons" are really just 6-week sessions. They are so short, and DS barely knows the kids, so I would be inclined to just invite his closer friends instead. I tend to keep b-day parties small though.
