I know this has been brought up before, but I'll bring it up again. Does it really bother people a lot when the sibsets dont "match"? I mean, i dont know I guess I never really pay much attention to it...unless one is spelled really oddly and ther others are normal then I notice. But otherwise I really dont know...heres one of my friends growing ups sibset
Amber
Markus
Cora
Lindsay
I mean, most are older but Lindsay is pretty 80s to me. I dont know...maybe their ok together...I just dont get it...because I know if I have a daughter her name will be very classic old school, unlike my son's name which is a surname (but I still love)
Re: oh sibsets
Amber is pretty 80s to me, too. I don't think the sibset you posted is particularly strange.
I don't spend time obsessing over sibsets in general, but every once in a while, yes, I hear names spoken together and think "wow, those really don't go." Like the time I was at the playground and heard a mother call out to "Donald and Genesis." I was so sure that when I turned around, I would see she was talking to kids who weren't related, but it was pretty obvious they were both her children. I still haven't gotten over that one.
That I can see! But I dont remember who it was, and it was a while ago, posted about her & her sisters names, saying they didnt match or mesh together and it always bothered her....but I didnt see how they didnt go?..they both seemed very early 80s to me. haha I dont know...I just know my daughter (whenever that is) will have a very classic name, and I already know my next boys name....atleast I hope the BF likes it lol
I don't get why children's names have to "match". It's a family, not shoes and a handbag
My sibs and I are Rebecca, Chelsea and Keenan. My mom said that by the time she got to the third name she just wanted to go a little crazy lol
Here's my favorite story ever:
My sister goes to a storytime at her local library. There was a mom there with four girls, ranging from 9ish down to a newborn. Their names were:
Rebecca
Sarah
Abigail
Tinkerbell
The mom said that when the last one came out and it was another girl, she just couldn't think of another girl name.
this, exactly!! My sibs and I: Angel (prn the Hispanic way), Sean, Dagan, Maya, Timmy, Bobby Wayne, Kathleen "Katie", and Dee. Obviously "matching" was of no importance here lol
I'm really OCD and have dropped names from my list because they don't work with my favorites; I think its important for a sibset to be cohesive. My mother took my name into account when she was naming my sister; we are Jillian and Gabrielle, both three syllables and contain a double L. I think it's strange to see an off sibset (like I know someone with a Parker and Guinevere) because the taste in names is so different
I love longer names (3-4 syllables), so I probably wont ever use some of the 2 syllable names on my long list.
ETA: I think Amber and Lindsay are really 80's, and Markus and Cora are kind of classic. If they were separate sibsets they would work, but together it's kind of weird. Although, they're not awful; at least they are all two syllables.
haha my great grandma had this happen to her she had 16 kids and 14 were boys the only one she struggled with was the last. she was actually in the newspaper for leaving the hospital with "baby boy (last name)"
I think about it sometimes.... I imagine it on a Christmas card.... like
"Merry Christmas from the Smiths- William, Henry, Elizabeth, and John." Normal.
or
"Merry Christmas from the Jones- Giovanni, Carson, and Jebediah." WHAT??
I don't think they need to be matchy -matchy, but I do prefer when they are at least the same style- all Hispanic, all Italian, all Irish, all trendy, all classic, all biblical, etc. Plus I think when the same two people have kids, they tend to agree on the same type of name for all their children, so it just works out that way.
Why? Because the last thread got like a trillion reads, and you want your threads to get the same attention?
Or because you feel like you have to meet your goal of 5 posts a day, and you've run out of ideas?
