***LLCG***

Just wondering how you're coming on the med-free front.  Let us know if you need any pep talks!!

Re: ***LLCG***

  • Awww... thanks for asking!

I'm doing well.  I met with my doula last night.  I don't know if y'all remember, but I actually had one lined up through my acupuncture clinic.  She's new and is doing this for free as part of her training.  I considered telling her I didn't need her back when I thought I was getting an epi... SO SO glad I didn't.  She's wonderful and brought me Ida Mae's book so I've been reading the birth stories.

One of the things that my doula told me last night that was the most profound is that, yes, I might get to a point where it hurts really, really bad, but, it only lasts about a minute at a time and then I'll get a break.  I hadn't thought about that.  You hear about women being in labor for hours and you think that it means they are in constant pain for that long, but they aren't.  That made me feel a lot better.

I guess my approach is to not stress too much about it before it happens.  I could have a really easy labor and delivery and I don't want to get myself all worked up about it.  I have been practicing relaxing when I feel cramping or any other discomfort.  If it turns out that its the worst thing in the world, I figure I'll already be in the middle of it and I'll deal with it.  I can do it.

Also, I do want to say that for as notorious as Seeker is for being a c/s doctor on this board, he has never once even mentioned that word to me and thinks that there is no reason why I can't have a vaginal delivery.  He's also very supportive of my decision to go med-free and to have my doula present.  I was even surprised because of some of the stories and opinions I've read here, but it isn't the case at all for me.

Faon brought me some hypnobirthing materials as well as the Bradley book.  I don't have too much time to study up but I'm trying to get some good info in before game time.

One thing I would love to hear are what playlists anyone used for labor.  I'm making mine now.  I'll have two, I think.  One with inspirational and emotional music and one with let's-move-this-f'ing-mountain-and-get-this-baby-out music.  Any suggestions?

  • Loading the player...
  • Yay!  I'm so glad you're getting support and are feeling good about your L&D.

Did Faon's stuff have a positive affirmations CD with it?  If so, listen to it as much as you can.  It can sound sort of cheesy at times, but it really does help your frame of mind.

I used my HB scripts during L&D so I don't have any immediate playlist suggestions, but I'll think about it and get back to ya.
