Things are OK...getting better though. Decree is now on file, so I'm getting a copy of that tomorrow so I can start moving forward with everything. I need it for the refinance on this house, to switch the kids' health insurance to my name and file for child support.
M can't do anything about his housing options until his name is off this mortgage, so yes, as of now we're all still under one roof. One awkward, uncomfortable roof.

That has GOT to be hard. Why do you have to switch the health insurance? Will he be moving out of town?
Ug. I dreaded that talk with Lucas, but he was much younger than Nora is. I just keep telling him that mommy and daddy love him so much, but we thought it would be best if we had to separate houses so we can continue to be good mommy and daddy to him.

Ack.
We just thought it would be easier for him to pay me for both his share of child care AND the kids' health insurance, rather than me paying him for one and he paying me for the other. Also, my job is more stable right now.

It is a beautiful thing. Beautiful. This conversation reminds me that I need to call KS Child support enforcement because exH refuses to help me pay for childcare (I removed him from exMIL's care).
Butting in - my oldest is just a month or two younger than Nora and we (the three girls) moved away from 'daddy' so it's a little different, but I just kept it simple. Daddy stayed at the 'new house' to keep going to his work, and we moved here to be close to mom-mom and all her friends. She didn't really ask questions. I just tell her that he loves her and he is going to visit her soon, but he is busy at work. They talk a few nights a week on the phone. From what I've read, less is best - keep it simple.

Gotcha.
My suggestion: Wage garnishment.

Good luck with the conversation. ((hugs))
