Cloth Diapering

Re: CDs giving DD a rash

Thanks for the input earlier today ladies.  I have another question.  If yeast is the culprit and I need to bleach the diapers, is it ok to bleach the pocket (i.e. the outside) part of the Fuzzibunz (assuming it is color safe bleach)?  I think if it is yeast, its caught up in the gathering of the leg openings, so just bleaching the MF inserts won't do the trick.  If its not safe to bleach that part, what else can I do?

  • Yes, it is okay. Just use the bleach compartment in your washing machine so it gets evenly distributed with the water. You have to bleach them to really get rid of the yeast. Make sure you treat your wipes and wetbags, too, that came into contact with the rash or infected diapers.

ETA - the yeast isn't necessarily "caught up" in the legs of the diapers, but that is where yeast can live once it is on the skin (it needs a dark, moist environment so leg folds are often where you see the rash).

  • My son had a yeast infection in his diaper area, and I didn't treat the dipes any different than normal.
