Success after IF

Bummed...IUI/morphology

RE's office just called back, and they said DH's SA was still the same...which means the morphology still sucks.  She said his count was excellent though.  This is so discouraging.  She mentioned if we're unsuccessful this cycle (9dpo right now...and BFN), we'd try 1-2 more IUIs...which wouldn't happen until January b/c of our health care spending account through work.

His numbers from before IUI (she wouldn't give me the latest ones since he forgot to sign the consent form for me to get info...but she said it was pretty much the same):

0% normal, 3% slightly amorphous, 97% severely amorphous

Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
TTC #2 since 9/09 --- mild PCOS; Endometriosis
IUI x4 = BFN
IVF = sometime in 2012

Re: Bummed...IUI/morphology

  • I'm sorry.

    I'm not sure what your counts are, and if motility is still good... but Davez had 1% morph from his SA's and his samples for IUI were 20-40mil, Grade A, and got me pregnant several times. (I have other issues myself)

    If the other numbers are good, most docs dismiss the poor morph a lot. I apologize for not recalling your backstory, but perhaps this could be your case as well????

  • I notice you have a two year old.  I don't know what your situation was before but I want to give you some hope.  My DH and I were "unexplained"  when trying for #1 after over a year and a half got pregnant with our son through IUI.  This time around had to repeat testing and found his morph was at 1% repeated test and 1% again. Other counts ok.  RE said morph probably always bad and people who have been pregnant before have a chance of getting pregnant again through IUI.  IUI spins out the bad.  There is a lot of controversy about morph because I had another RE tell me we needed IVF.  I wish you luck.  This board was so helpful to me to give me hope!

    I have PCOS, and now have MFI (morphology).  For DS and our m/c, we did Femara, Bravelle, and Ovidrel.  Since then, we've switched REs (who we are happier with).  For this IUI, we did Follistim and Ovidrel.  His motility is good and his count was great (234mil).

  • Try not to let the morph get you down.  I'm another poor morph success story.  My husband has tested with 0% and 2% morph and we have had three pregnancies without medical intervention.  It sounds like he has great counts.

    Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

    Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
