Am I Alone?

I have a question, is there anyone else on here that has had a c-section that they had to make the vertical incision in the uterus as well as the horizontal? I did and they told me because I had to have the second inscision that I would never have a normal delivery afterwards. They told me that it was a possibility that I would have to have the second inscision depending on how DD was sitting and they couldnt get a good hold on her so thats why they did it, the doctor said her head was really big and it didnt want to come out. I am just feeling kind of sad because I wanted a natural birth for at least one child. Should I just realize that it probably wont happen because of the nature of my 1st delivery or seek a second opinion? and has anyone had the second insicion and had a vaginal delivery the second time around?

Thanks sorry its long,

Kassie

  • I've never heard of this, but i'd go for a second opinion. I couldn't hurt right?

  • I have a friend who had a classic c/s (that is the vertical incision). She had it with her second pregnancy, which was twins. Then she had baby #4 in a hospital VBAC. Then the hospital changed their policy on allowing a trial of labor for women with classic c. She had her 5th and 6th baby unassisted at home. I would never do it, but the babies are healthy and happy.

My point is...it is possible but it could be an uphill battle finding a doctor who will do it.

  • Thats what I pretty much figured, they tried to do it with out making the vertical but DD was just not coming out like she was supposed to.

  • My midwife told me she would only do VBACs for horizontal incisions. It might not hurt to look for another opinion.

  • It will likely be a challenge to find a provider, but you might still be able to. If it is important to you, ask as many providers as you can when the time comes. Or even before, maybe next time you TTC. If you have an ICAN chapter near you, you may be able to get some referrals that way.

  • What does BSC AE mean. I would go see a midwife.
