laundry machine scare

Just threw in almost all our dipes and half way through the first prerinse cycle I noticed the machine had stopped running.  Go in to check - water up to the top and I hear a faint crunching sound.  uh oh.  I push and pull the button and couple times, still crunching.  Reach my arm into the poop filled water to see if anything is stuck (wondering which I would be more upset about - loosing a diaper or having to fix our laundry machine) but felt nothing wrapped or stuck.  Unplug it - realize it's not an electronic so unplugging would probably do nothing.  Pray to the laundry machine gods and push and pull the button a couple more times...still crunching.  I open the lid and just stare at the sea of fuzzibunz, bumgenius, flannel wipes and microfiber inserts just wanting to be fresh and clean.  I look up whirlpool, look up repair places, then call my mom to complain.  As I was talking to her I was fiddling with the button again and all of a sudden, it was working!!!  hmmm.  Now, I'm just going to hope that I can get through this cycle of diapers and then call a repair company to find out what the crunching could possibly have been.

My washer died the other night in the middle of a load of diapers. It flooded the freshly scrubbed laundry room and kitchen floors with poop water. Then I had the wring out each poop water filled diaper and take them to ILs. I cried.  Now I am the proud owner of a brand new washer and dryer!  I hope its an easy fix. Why do they always die in the middle of a load of poopy diapers?

I thought I read a post like this recently and thought about it during my panic.  Sorry you had to do all that but at least you got a new washer out of it!  The thought of a brand new front loader HE washer in a fancy color passed through my mind as well:)

Yeah the new washer and dryer were worth dealing with the mess.  I was due for new ones though. The ones we had were 20 year old hand-me-downs.
