Re: spitting up

  • We went from Neosure to Nutramigen and that helped.  Is she upset when she spits up?  Is she being treated for reflux?
  • She isn't at all upset when she spits up (throws up) and she isn't being treated for reflux?

Is the Nutramigen a formula for babies who were born prematurly?

  • If she isn't upset, then she may not have reflux or need to be treated, unless she is losing weight...

Sometimes cow's milk proteins can aggravate reflux, and Nutramigen is free of cow's milk protein. It is easier to digest. But, not a special preemie formula.

Is she over feeding or eating too fast?  If Andrew overate he would puke everywhere.  When he was little he was way too tired to eat and could barely eat enough, when he got older he for some reason wouldn't regulate his bottles well and would overeat, especially in the morning when he was really hungry. We had to cut him off at 8 oz so he wouldn't puke everywhere.  I forget how old your LO is, but maybe ask your doctor how much she could be eating in one sitting.

  • Thanks for the info!

Could it be that we aren't consistenly using the same kind of bottles?

we are using a bunch of different kinds?

Could this do it.. She only eats 2 oz max right now and she does eat fast most of the time but burps so much and so good and then still spits up.

I'm not sure about the bottles - certinaly some might result in her ingesting more air than others. If you notice an improvement with one or the other I'd stick with it.

I'm not sure at her age how much she should eat. 2 oz doesn't sound like too much, but it also depends on how often she's eating.

I'd talk to your doctor about how much she is eating and how often, see if she's gaining weight, and go from there! I hope they have some suggestions for you!
