I haven't helped cook pumpkin seeds since I was a kid, so I have to ask a stupid question. Why do you have to sort them? We got a couple pumpkins today and I was thinking about carving them. Do you have a good pumpkin seed recipe?
You have to get the seeds out of the pumpkin guts, that's the sorting.
I took the easy way out. ?I sorted, put them into a colander & rinsed the living crap out of them, spread them on paper towel to dry. ?Put on a cookie sheet, sprinkled with garlic salt, baked at 325 for about 20 minutes. ?Halfway through I mixed them up a bit, threw them back in. ?DS has been walking around with a cup of pumpkin seeds all day lol
Re: I HATE sorting pumpkin seeds.
have you tried boiling the seeds? it sort of helps detach the gunk from the seeds.
and for the other poster - there's a bunch of recipes on allrecipes.com.

I agree. I asked DS to help, but he kept shaking his hands, yelling "yucky gucky", getting pumpkin slop all over the kitchen.
To other poster: 2 cups seeds, 2Tb melted better, 1-2Tb garlic salt, 2ts worchershire - 300 degrees for 45-60 mins.
