Sonoline B 2mhz or 3mhz?

I am 10 weeks today, and don't have my next appointment until November 1st...and I just can't wait that long.

I am going to buy a doppler, but wanted to know which is better, the 2 or 3 mhz. Is there anyone who has tried both?

I googled it and got conflicting information...Can you imagine? Conflicting pg information on google?  Confused

Re: Sonoline B 2mhz or 3mhz?

  • I bought this one, which is a 3mhz.  I received it two days ago (great seller, by the way -- I received my order in 2-3 days!).  I absolutely love this doppler.  Both times I've tried it, I've found the heartbeat in under 5 minutes.

    Have fun!

I bought this one as well... love it! I've been hearing the HB since 10 weeks.

3mhz should be stronger..so you may be able to hear it better / find it easier.  But, I have no personal experience with one other than at my OB's office.

  • I have the same one as well.  I was able to find the heartbeat yesterday on my first try using it.  Good luck!

  • I have the 2mhz one and I am not a fan. I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to find the hb but I have yet to find it. I know everything is okay though because doc did an u/s on Friday and baby is fine, so either I can't tell the difference between mine and baby's hb or it just doesn't work that well. Thankfully I think I only paid like $25 for it on Amazon.

  • I have no idea if this is a reputable description, but the Amazon seller from the one I purchased said this:

"The 2MHZ probe was designed to accommodate late termand obese pregnancies since it works best at 10 cm and larger depths. A 3MHZ is more sensitive that a 2 MHZ probe and can pick up a baby's heart beat as early as eight to ten weeks. "

  • I purchased the 3mhz and it's great. I found the heartbeat just after turning 9 weeks with this baby. Heard it clear as day and quickly with my DS at 10 weeks.

  • I ordered the 3mhz Sonoline from Amazon on Wednesday - estimated delivery date was by October 31st but it came on Friday! In looking at some of the reviews for vendors, there were a few complaining that they ordered the 3mhz and received the 2mhz and they were not happy with it - so it seems more people prefer the 3mhz. I would probably also stay away from the vendors with those reviews. I found the heartbeat with it after some advice on this board.
