Hi,
I believe I am 18-19 DPO, based on saliva ovulation testing. I am having some mild, unusual symptoms (nausea, heartburn). I spotted a little brown around 10-12 DPO (possibly implantation bleeding?). No AF in sight....grrrrrrr. Anyway, I haven't seen even the faintest bit of a line on any HPT and all digi's are negative. I tested today with first morning urine -- BFN. Did anyone have this problem? I'm trying to be patient but it is so difficult! If I'm not pregnant then I'm ready to start a new cycle so I can try again....UGGHH.
Sorry if this is a newbie question. Thanks for your patience ![]()

Re: late period and BFN *frustrated* anyone else have a late BFP?
Well, I'd never heard of the saliva ovulation tests before, so I had to google them. I used the "pee in a cup" kind, plus I charted my temps.
The thing about ovulation predictors is that they predict that you might be about to ovulate within a certain window. Just because you get a positive, it doesn't mean you actually did ovulate, only that you had a hormone surge that suggested you could.
You may have ovulated a few days later than you think you did. So, I'd test once every few days (or once a week) until you either get your period or get a +HPT.
Good luck.

I used OPKs, but didn't temp as I kept forgetting last cycle. I tested at 12 dpo and got a BFN, but felt like I was getting my period. So, I waited and tested again at 19dpo for a BFP.
Maybe you ovulated later or didn't ovulate. Maybe wait it out a little bit and then call your Gyno. If you have any cramping or other symptoms with a BFN, I would call right away.
I got my bfp on day 50. I tested 2 weeks before and it was neg than the next week ...still negative.
I thought for sure I was going to need af kick started. But, I tested one more time...and God blessed me with a +!!
Dont give up :-)
Were you charting or using OPK's or just a long cycle?
The saliva microscopes claim 98% accuracy in predicting ovulation (not just estrogen surge) and I have been using it throughout my cycle. I can pinpoint 2 days of full ferning and a couple days "transitional" partial furning before and after, and then nothing since then. All the research I've done says anovulatory cycles usually show ferning multiple times throughout the cycle. I don't want to totally rule out not ovulating but I think it is unlikely that I didn't ovulate. That is why I'm so confused
Usually long cycles still have 14-16 day LP's right??

Of course it is going to claim that, have you ever seen a good marketing campaign that said the product was accurate 50% of the time? I used a saliva scope for 4 cycles. 2 of those cycles the scope was off by 5 whole days. They are not always accurate and there is huge room for user error. Even a drink of water hours beforehand can skew the results.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Actually, most "early result" pregnancy tests have a table included in the directions that shows the accuracy statistics starting at 5 or 6 days before your missed period. If you read these, day 5 is usually around 50%. I would imagine that similar to nutrition facts on food the FDA has requirements the drug companies have to follow when making such claims. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm trying not to lose all my faith in over the counter ovulation prediction tools

I thought I was AF was 9 days late on my 'normal' 30 day cycle when I finally decided I should start temping just to get in the habit of it for the next cycle. Turns out I hadn't even ovulated yet and didn't until CD 42. I tested once every 3-4 days until CD 56 when I got a BFP.
If you are still getting BFN, you are not pregnant or you ovulated later than you thought. Temping is invaluable for putting your mind at ease and making the TTC process a little less stressful.
Keep testing once a week until you reach CD 60 and then call your doc to get AF started. Good Luck!

I don't know about the saliva test. I could never get a pos. and i'm pregnant so it's not so accurate. I also used it with opk and BBT. I would try using these if af shows. Good luck!
This. Once I got a +OPK and then AF was very late and BFN BFN BFN. Turns out I never ovulated and had a big (painful) ovarian cyst.
I had to take some provera to bring on AF, but then I got pg next cycle.
