I'm doing a MAJOR clean up of our study and purging. We were in a car accident back in 2007 and the at fault driver's insurance paid my medical medical bills. I still have all the records from this. There shouldn't be any reason to keep it right?
I've always heard 7-10 years for paperwork that involves any major expenses... taxes, etc... not sure on that, but I'd rather have it than not.. but then again I'm a bit of a packrat and still have my 1998 tax return amongst other papers from that time period
If you used any medical bills to claim on your taxes then you need to keep them for at least 3 years. If not and they have been paid and no outstanding issues, you can discard.
