Do you and DH disagree on how to parent?

We do: DH thinks I am 'overprotective' and I baby him too much (is there such a thing?)

Just wondering about others!

Just on little things. He is super overprotective and I'm more relaxed. He spoon feeds her everything, I let her make a mess. But we are on the same page with discipline and other big issues.

DH is the same way he says I treat him like a baby but I think he is a baby still. He thinks I let DS walk all over me, I'm just not as firm with him as DH is and I think there has to be a balance.

DH was in the military for 8 years, so he's all about the "my way or the highway" method. I hate it. I have talked him out of it somewhat. We are reading "Dare to Discipline" and I think that's helping!

On discipline and his eating. SO seems to think that he can eat hot dogs and chips every day...I do not. We talked about these things before we had him, and now that he is here we have both gone different ways. It's something we are constantly trying to work on.

We don't disagree, we just have different styles. I'm fine with what he does, though he is a big suck and DS has him wrapped around his pinky. It's unfortunate for DH because DS knows that stuff that won't fly with me will fly with his dad.

For instance, if I'm out shopping with just DS, he will happily stay in his stroller the entire time because he just knows I'm not going to pick him up. If DH is there, however, he will expect to be allowed to come out after half an hour, because DH will give in and carry him as soon as he starts to whine.

I'm the tough one. Even with my good friend's son, before I had DS, we would go out and I'd be the one to carry her son kicking and screaming. She was a big softy and I just didn't care, so she made me do the dirty work and I was fine with that.

We actually pretty much agree on everything. My SO is a bit more protective of him but thats just a personality thing, it doesnt change how we parent. Were lucky we agree, it makes things alot easier!
