With the doctor's appointments for my husband I haven't been around much lately and I miss you ladies so much! Since I'm not around I haven't seen if anyone else is having issues related to growth,. I went for my regular routine OB visit on Thursday and found out baby's growth is slowing down and she is now starting to measure small. We were not suppose to have another U/S unless there were any problems but the OB is concerned and wants an U/S to assess her size and if there is anything wrong with her. Of course my google search last night did not yield anything positive. Anyone else measuring small?
Re: Headed in for U/S to see what's wrong :(
With DS #1, he measured small... He was officially diagnosed with IUGR (intra-uterine growth restriction). He was born at 35 weeks and was 4 lbs. 3 oz. but totally healthy. Really they just monitered me very closely (I had a biophysical scan weekly and 2 non-stress tests weekly) with him at the end of my pregnancy. It could be IUGR, it could be that the measurement was off a little bit or it could be that the baby is just going to have a growth spurt and catch up by the next ultrasound.
Try not to worry... And definitely don't google!!
I'm not measuring small, but I wanted to say good luck at the u/s. Just think, you get to see your little peanut again! Hopefully everything will turn out fine and she might just end up being on the smaller side.*hugs*
Just wanted to say good luck with your U/S. Think positive, as most likely everything is fine
Oh, and like PP said, try not to Google too much!
Like pp said, google is scary. I have been having growth ultrasounds since 26 weeks because the baby is measuring small. She is officially IUGR now (previously she was SGA- small for gestational age). They should tell you what percentage your baby is in and usually they aren't too worried unless it is below the 10th or 5th percentile.
I know everyone is probably tired of seeing this, but, our baby measured at the 13th, then dropped to the 12th and has now measured in the less than 5th percentile the last two growth ultrasounds. My baby's IUGR is compounded with really low fluid levels, so I have been in L&D now for about a week.
If they are really concerned they will talk about taking the baby early. For me, they are not letting me go past 37 weeks. The baby looks perfectly healthy, but small babies (and low fluid level) may not tolerate labor well. If the baby does measure small enough to be concerned about, they may monitor you once (or twice) a week with NSTs (non-stress tests).
Good luck! I am sure your baby is fine and don't put too much stock into one ultrasound, especially if you don't measure below the 10th percentile. Even is the baby is measuring small, it isn't always indicative of problems
At my 32 week appt I measured 30 cm (the same I measured at 30 weeks) but my MW said it could be that I've been measured by all the different MWs in the group. I go in for a growth u/s at 36 weeks just to make sure and check things out.
Good luck!!!
