Help! Skin Allergy?

Hello ladies,

I have a 5 week old baby and a few days ago I noticed that he had a small skin rash (I'm not sure if this is the right word as it isn't uncomfortable to him) or maybe an allergy.  Small bumps appeared on his legs, chest and arms.  I think it may have been after I used the Johnson & Johnson's nighttime lotion.  I stopped using it but they have not gone away.

Does anyone have any advice on what I could use to get rid of this? I feel really guilty for using it and I feel horrible because I feel like I ruined his soft baby smooth skin.  :(

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Grace

Re: Help! Skin Allergy?

  • It might be baby acne, it's very common in babies 2-8 weeks.  If it is then try Aveno Baby or another baby was that does not contain perfumes or dyes.  Also make sure you're using dye and perfume free detergent on his clothes. If you'll use a nice clean cloth dampened only by water a few times a day to wipe his skin and then let it air dry it will help remove the oils from the surface and hopefully clear up his acne.

  • baby smooth skin doesn't exist in newborns. Acne, random bumps, cradle cap, etc. Now worries, he's fine. He also doesn't need lotion at all.
