A friend of mine has had an interesting pregnancy so far... Wondering if you have any insight/experience/ideas..
At her 23 week appointment, she was measuring 27 weeks. Now she's 27 weeks and measuring 37 weeks - she's gained 27 lbs (ALL BELLY). She has an ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday and should know more then, but her doctors seemed very surprised and were obviously not used to seeing a situation like this..
I'd love to know if anyone has ever experienced something like this, or may have some insight into what might be going on...
Thanks so much for any advice you can provide!

Re: 27 weeks, measuring 37 weeks!?
She's already in so much pain ... back, legs, everything. I can't even imagine...
I know that she was tested, but I haven't heard anything back about the results... I just sent her a message to find out, but I agree - seems like something must be ... awry...
Interesting! She said that excessive fluid runs in her family, but at the last appointment, they checked her fluid and she was normal. She did say that they were going to double-check again at the next appointment. It seems like this could definitely be a cause...
That's so strange! Bodies are, indeed, very weird!
Weird? Is this based on u/s or fundal height? If it's a fundal height measurement, it could easily be that the baby was in a weird position - although that's still a pretty big jump.
Hope the u/s clears everything up and it turns out to be just an oddly positioned baby!

can I just say this makes me feel a ton better about my gain of 30lbs already...I thought I was the only one!
My guess is the baby's large, but not 10 weeks too large! The baby could just be sitting in a position that makes her stick out a lot more. I was measuring 3 weeks behind & when I had my u/s everything inside was measuring right on track & her weight was just right. The u/s tech said the baby was just probably set back in me a little more than others, and that the baby was in a position so that she wasn't making me bump out much.
That's the only thing I thought of, too. I started measuring 5ish weeks ahead once I developed that with DS, it was awful.
