weird thing in Huggies diapers?

so I just opened a pack of Huggies Little Snugglers size 2 and its left weird stuff on my baby- it looks like tiny clear granules that are jelly-like. Has anyone else seen this? Should I stop using them?

  • It's just the stuff that's in the diapers that absorbs the liquid. It's not a big deal. Totally normal. Just wipe it off.

  • I have seen those before in Pampers...I use Huggies Pure & Natural with DD...and I love them....they hold up very well and are absorbant especially over night....

  • Yes I have noticed this also. I think it's suppose to be the things that absorb the pee. I personally prefer Pampers to Huggies but I still have not had to buy diapers from my baby shower, so I'm just using what I have.

  • I've noticed this a time or two on DD. Especially if she's been a heavy wetter or it's been a little bit before I could change her. She hasn't had any rash (not in the slightest) or any problems, though. I'll continue to use them until I notice a problem.

  • Like a PP said, they're what absorbs all the pee.  They're completely harmless, though.  All the diapers that are younger than like 10 years, use these, except for cloth.  The crystals themselves are actually sold as a gardening material to help your plants during times of drought.  I don't know if diaper companies or gardeners started using them first.
  • When DS was a newborn & we took him to an appt, his pedi told us that if you see those jelly-things, it means the diaper is too full w/ pee.  You need to change it before it gets that full (next step it leakage!).

They don't cause any harm, just a pain to get off the skin.

  • Yup, we have seen it in huggies and pampers. When I see them I always apologize to the little guy for not changing his diaper sooner.

I use these too and I love them, but I've also found those little granules in DS's diaper a few times.
