What are you thoughts on registering for stuff that you can't use right away (high chair, baby dishes and utensils, umbrella stroller, etc.)? I can't decide whether to put them on the registry now -- as long as people are getting us gifts, might as well get everything we'll need -- or wait so that I make sure I get the stuff I really need at the beginning first. Also, does it look bad/greedy to have a super long registry? (When every fork and bowl is a separate item, my BBB registry reaches the second page!)
Re: Registering for 6 month + stuff?
I think the things you mentioned are completely fine. I side eye things that are FAR into the future like size 5 diapers and potties. I think the generally accepted norm is anything you'll need in the first year.
I think long registries with lots of pricepoints give people options, and people appreciate options. How long is "long"? My registry has 75 things on it, which felt "long" to me, but a lot of them are sub-$10. Yesterday, a friend bought like 7 smaller things off it to get him to the amount that he was comfortable spending.
There's a line though. I saw a registry that had over 200 things on there. That's excessive, imo.

As a gift giver I have no problems with registries for future items. I added things for the future (high chair, feeding items, exersaucer, etc.) because I may use my completion coupon to buy them as well. I think's quite alright to register for anything you think you may need. I needed the bigger items, like convertible car seat and high chair to put enough "big" items for those that were going together on gifts.
