NTR: Bread Machine?

Thinking of asking for one for Christmas. I love the idea of throwing things in the machine and getting homemade bread. I'm having nesting fantasies about playing with my toddler and cuddling the new baby while it snows and the house smells like warm fresh bread. :) (I do realize that more likely I'll be exhausted and the toddler will be crying and the baby will have a blowout diaper that got all over me, but just let me fantasize for now!)

If you have a bread machine, do you actually use it? Or is it more likely to just sit in a cupboard except for once a year?

  • We've used it a few times.  I keep meaning to find some recipes for whole wheat bread though.  H goes through bread like it's going out of style and of course he only likes the expensive (breadwise) kind.

  • We have one and use it a lot. We now pretty much make all of our bread at home, and often use it to make homemade pizza/calzone dough. I'd say I use it once a week.
  • One of my roomies in college had one and I loved using it. I made this yummy jalepeno cheddar bread. It made our apartment smell fabulous. I'm not sure how much I would use it now, but gosh that warm bread was good!

  • We use have one and use it every so often.  I made bread about a week ago and DS is now old enough to help so it makes it fun and he enjoys it too.

  • I use mine a lot, but mostly to make dough that I bake in the oven. I don't like how the bread comes out when it's finished in the bread maker . But the dough is excellent, and it only takes 20-25 minutes to finish a loaf in the oven.
