Acidophilus to prevent thrush when on anti's

Have you taken it?  LC is recommending to counteract antibiotic that I am on for strep throat to prevent thrush...she says get the refridgerated kind.  Should I just get yogurt?  I found a place that carries it, but it's 1/2 hour away and man, I'm sick.

Thanks.

  • Thanks, yes, I'm very nervous about thursh.  So the yogurt with live cultures will do the same thing?  B/C I can head there tonight if that will make the difference.  What is this acidophilus like to take?  Thanks much for your input!

eat yogurt with live cultures until you can get some acidophilus.

you should feel tons better after 24 hours on antibiotics, but you'll continue to take the antibiotics for about 10 days, and that is when the thrush will begin to sneak up on you.  so you should feel better enough to drive 1/2 hr away in a couple days and the acidophilus will be a worthwhile investment if it heads off thrush.

    I agree -- def. a worthwhile investment!

The yogurt does not have enough acidophilus to do the trick on it's own though... so I would drive for the straight acidophilus when you can.
