DD is getting ready to start crawling here in a few weeks probably. Now that she's raising her head and chest up so far and playing with her mobile, I'm wondering when is the best time to lower the crib mattress. I have a bad back, so I would like to wait as long as possible, but I also want safety to be the top priority. When did you lower your LO's crib mattress and why?
Re: When to lower crib mattress?
Same here.
Working nights in the ER, I can attest to this on behalf of multiple parents.
We never even had our cribs on the higher setting because I didn't want to mess with it. Both our cribs were installed day one on the lowest setting (DH and I are both tall and didn't mind)
(read it. you know you want to.)

When she was able to get herself to a seated position, we lowered it. We lowered it again when she was standing. We still have one more setting to go (this will be the lowest) and I need to go ahead and lower it.
FWIW: Our crib was *super* easy to lower (I am able to do it by myself). It wasn't a big deal to lower to the intermediate settings. Had it been more of a PITA, I'm sure we would have just gone straight to the lowest setting.
