1) If you're expecting did you get the flu shot? If you didn't is it because you're expecting or just because you don't want it?
2). Christ v. Bethesda? Pros and Cons of each. My current dr's practice only delivers at Christ and it's really far away considering I work in Dayton and live in Lebanon. I don't know how I feel about this.
3) My dr is monitering my beta levels since we found out about the pregnancy so early. I'm new at this but it seems very excessive. I've had blood drawn on Friday, monday and again today. Is that normal? I know each situation is different but does this seem weird to anyone?
Any help is appreciated. I've got a million things flying through my head and I know I just need to chill but I thought you ladies might be able to help.
TIA
Re: Lots of questions any help appreciated
I missed the original announcement, so congratulations!!
I didn't get a flu shot, not because I was pregnant, but because I don't get them.
I was very happy with Bethesda, I know nothing about Christ.
No betas for me, but I think that sounds right based on what I've heard from other people.
It's exciting, isn't it?

1) I did get the flu shot when I was pregnant, but I was in the late second or early 3rd trimester. Your OB may advise you to wait until the second trimester to get one.
no advice on 2&3
My doctor only delivers at Christ. We had a really great experience there. The nurses are amazing. I had a really long labor (multiple days and I came in three times before I stayed to have the baby) and they always would listen to what I wanted to try but at the same time gave good advice.
I really liked the recovery rooms and the nurses there too.
First, Congrats!!!
1. Yes, I did, andI was in my first trimester. There is a preservative free shot available if you are concerned about the thimerisol content (your OB office or any of the local pharmacies will carry it).
I don't know anything about your other questions, but good luck to you and I hope you get some answers to give you peace of mind!
1 - I haven't yet....still not sure if I am going to or not. I'm not not getting it because I'm pregnant, I just haven't had it too often in the past. We'll see though. But I do think I remember hearing/reading that it's better to get it after the 1st trimester, could be wrong about that though.
2 - I'm delivering at Bethesda this time (was at Mercy with DS) and I've heard nothing but good things about it. My sister delivered there recently and had a good experience
3 - It's normal to have them checked every 48 hours to make sure they're doubling correctly. Most doctor's do it if you have a history of miscarriage/loss.
It's very exciting but scary at the same time. I'm sure all first time mom's feel this way tho!

I knew this but I don't have that history. I guess I'll just be happy my Dr is being so careful and ignore the soreness in my arms from the blood tests. Counting my blessings!
First off, congratulations on your BFP!!
1) My first PG, I didn't get the flu shot. However, I got really sick with colds/flu all season which made me weaker and more tired overall. So this time around, my OB recommended that I get one for sure. Plus, I teach high school kids (ick), so I am extra susceptible for unwanted germies. (I practically throw Clorox wipes at my kids to clean the desks!!) I just got my flu shot last week, and I was 15 weeks. Haven't had any side effects from it yet.::knocks on wood::
2) I don't have any advice on hospitals, since I live and will deliver in Dayton. GL here.
3) If you found out very early about the PG, it's typical that your OB would want your beta levels drawn every few days to make sure your counts double appropriately.
1) Yes, I got flu shots during my pregnancies. And I got them during the first trimester.
2) I hear great things from everyone that has delivered at Bethesda.
3) Yes, it is typical to have betas drawn once and again 48 hours later to ensure the numbers are rising properly.
Good luck and congratulations!
1. the only time i got a flu shot when was i was pregnant.
2. i have never delivered in cincy but we have met with a high risk ob that delivers at good sam as a consult for later pregnancies.
3. i did not have betas drawn on 48 hour intervals.
yes.
I wouldn't want to be that far from the hospital I'm delivering in. We had a 25 minute car ride when I was in labor with Maggie and it was miserable.
I never had any with either pregnancy, and I found out super early both times. Neither practice I use did betas unless there was history of m/c or another risk factor, I just had my first appointment near the end of the first tri.
This is my worry. DH was born at Christ and because MIL liked it he seems to think this is the only option. We've got loads of time for him to come around to my side but I would just hate to to be in Dayton and have to drive to Cinci.
This.
I got the H1N1 pregnant & already had the flu shot last year when I got pregnant.
I live in Lebanon as well and switched Dr's because I didn't want to go all the way to Christ. I delivered at Bethesda and had a wonderful experience.
Do you mind sharing what dr you use? I might need to change. I'm new to the area so I know nothing about the area or the doctors around.
Congrats! I missed the announcement too!
I don't get the flu shot (and neither has DS) so I can't help there. I just wanted to say congrats to ya!

Congrats on your BFP!!
I forgot to ask about the flu shot when I went in for my 16 week appointment on Monday & they did not mention it. I've never had one before & am kinda confused about the whole thing whether or not I want one.
I'm delivering at Good Sam so I'm no help there. I have had friends/relatives deliver at Bethesda & all have had wonderful experiences.
I had a lot of betas drawn due to the fact I was bleeding so bad during weeks 5-7 - I had them drawn every 48 hours. After week 8 they quit measuring them.
