Parenting after a Loss

If your stroller seat can be rear or forward facing ...

At what age did you make the switch from facing you (rear facing) to facing out (forward facing).

Until about 6 months of age we always had the infant car seat attached and hence was rear facing.  But for over 2 months now he rides in the actual stroller seat (not the infant car seat attached) and we continue to place him facing us (rear facing).  I think it might be time to switch it, so he can see where he is going :)  He is 8.5 months old now.

Just wondering what you did/when ?  TIA

  • With Jake I think it was close to 12 months before it occurred to me that he might want to see something other than me. you should be fine now, really  you can do it whenever you want, most strollers are only forward facing.

  • yeah - that's what I am thinking ... but my mother, who is his daycare provider while I am at work, thinks that he should remain rear facing, so that he can see "Grammy" or "Mommy"!  In fact, she thinks that this is the only way a stroller should be!  I am like WHAT?  Geez.  I think the boy would love to face out and see around better .... I think starting from this weekend, I will try it with him - so his first experience with it will be with ME.  And then I will tell my mom that he's riding facing front now - hee hee :)

  • I think it was around 6 months that DD went from looking at me to looking ahead.  She's interested in everything and I think when she was facing me, I was blocking some of her view.

  • 3.5 months I think. She didn't ever care to lay down much in her carseat, so as soon as she had any balance, we sat her up in the stroller.
