Not chunky ones, but the ones made with very tough string so that it won't break. I saw some pearls on a little girl the other day and the mom told me they were toddler safe, but I can't remember the brand name or store!
it is safer for a necklace to be strong but breakable if necessary. same concept that the military uses for dog tag chains. no idea about where to find toddler necklaces though.

Um, this is a good way for a kid to hang themselves.
My dd got a tinker bell trunk set for her birthday last year. It had dresses and things like that. The necklaces that came with it have never broke. I like that fact that they are not super long so they can't get stuck on something and if another child at play date pulls it while it's on another Childs neck the buckle will open up. She has another set I think we got at the icing or the other store like it in the mall. It's just plastic color beads but they are very hard to break. I don't let her use them at play dates because they don't open making it a choking hazard if a child were to pull on them or she got stuck with them on. They are very long on her so she only uses them in our home since I check on her every few mins.
Just to tag along to pp, we went to an Infant CPR class last night, and jewelry on infants was discussed as being very dangerous. Infants and toddlers put everything in their mouths, so if the necklace were ever to break it would probably go in the mouth right away, and the baby could choke. It might be a better idea to hold off on the necklaces until she is older.
