Potty Training

Ugh DD is super stubborn! Ideas?

DD has all the signs of being ready for potty training. She completely understands the concepts, etc. We have tried a reward system, but she really doesn't seem to care about the rewards.

Unfortunately, she will come to me after she's already gone to pee in her pants to tell me she's gone pee. I've tried doing the timer thing, trying to get her on the toilet every 15 mins but then we just end up having 4 battles an hour. I'm afraid this is becoming a terrible habit and really just need to break it.

Any thoughts on where to go from here? I think she is just being stubborn/strong willed.

ETA: DD is 34 months old and DS is 8 months old (my sig photos are old)

Re: Ugh DD is super stubborn! Ideas?

  • Well, DS is younger, so I've taken a more laid-back approach. But he HATES being 'nagged' to sit onthe potty. He's gotten more used to it (I found a reward he likes: sweets.) but still, ealry on, the regular potty visits weren't working. I had to let him guide me, and relax, try to guage how long he could go, and take a mean, so tried every hour or so. That'd be my suggestion: trying the timer less frequetnly. YOu will probably get more accidents, but i'ts just about trial and error and them learning.
