Argh had noooo idea about unpasteurized apple cider. I've had so much for the last couple of weeks. What do I do??? Any symptoms to expect from specific bacteria or infections? Can my OB do anything if the babies get infected???
I'd call OB to be safe. I had a SIP of some that was unpasteurized, then when I realized, I was super disappointed that I couldn't have more. You're probably okay, but you'll feel better if you check in.

Try not to worry -- if you haven't gotten sick you're probably fine. People on this board drink unpastuerized milk and eat unpastuerized cheese -- it's risky, but doesn't mean something bad will inevitably happen.

I LOVE my apple cider. If my OB (or anyone) tried to take it away from me, I'd probably bite her.
Apparently I'm already a bad mom. I never even checked if the orchard here pasturizes their cider or not.
... just looked at my bottle, and in addition to sterilizing the glass pre-fill, they use the UV sterilization. As a poster above said, it's just as good, effectiveness-wise as normal pasturization.
All that said, you're probably fine, as are the wee ones. If it makes you feel better though, giving your doc a call never hurts!
Did you buy it at an orchard / farmstand or at the supermarket? And what state are you in?
All cider sold in the US, except if it's sold directly from producer to consumer (i.e. at an orchard) must be pasteurized by law.
I was also told at my local orchard recently that it's also NY State law now that even orchard cider must be pasteurized. I'm not aware of laws in other northeastern states.
Chances are slim anything will go wrong. Call your doc tomorrow for reassurance.
Um I didnt know it was a no no, Ive been drinking it for sometime. And I know here its not pasturized at the orchard, I jus tknow its the best damn thing Ive had for an upset stomach ever lately.
it's really not a big deal. apple cider is smashed apples. that's it. fruit isn't pasteurized and we still eat that I drink the $hit out of cider If you are freaked out about it - nuke it in the microwave.

OK, just need to say here that drinking unpasteurized milk is MUCH riskier than eating unpasteurized cheese!!! No comparison!!! You're talking not just e. coli and salmonella, but even live coxiella burnetii (which causes Q-fever). There have been SO many outbreaks and deaths in children associated with the former, where as unpasteurized cheese is fairly common. Whatever you do, please do NOT drink unpasteurized milk!
