I am trying to figure out what to do for a photo Christmas card this year. I want to do it soon to get it ordered -- I usually use Shutterfly. I am just trying to come up with something creative and fun for this year's card. Anyone have a favorite Christmas photo card that they're willing to share the idea??
I know I've seen cards with children holding painted letters for J-O-Y that were super cute. What have you done that you want to brag on?!
PS> The photo would be either DS alone (maybe with a prop) or DH, DS and I, all together.
Re: Creative Christmas Cards??
Two years ago we did DD in her PJs at a table taking a bite out of a huge chocolate chip cookie... she was sitting next to a plate of spinach, and there was a note next to it that said, "Santa the cookies are for you." but cookies was crossed out and Spinach was written in its place. There was also a smaller photo on the card of DD making a "shhh!" sign.
Last year I had DD spin around in Christmas lights, turned off most of the lights, and she was laughing hysterically at something. The caption said, "May your holidays be MERRY and BRIGHT."
I don't think you do. I think that the Christmas card should reflect you and your family's personality. I personally am not a huge fan of the over-posed cards. Yes, I've done my kids dressed in red or green with a Santa hat, but that's the extent of it. Usually, I just do a picture I like.
If you are religious at all... I do try to incorporate some aspects of Jesus' birth into our cards now. I heard a great commentary on NPR a couple of years ago by a priest, and he said something like, "How would you like it if, on your birthday, people sent out pictures of themselves?" I thought, wow, that is so true.
So, I do still send pictures of us/the kids, but I try to include Christ. Last year, I had them both peering into a snowglobe with the Holy Family. It actually wasn't that hard. I just told them both there was candy inside ;o)
