when is trick or treating?

Is it on Halloween, even though it's on Sunday?  How do you find this out?

Here in Wake Forest, they officially consider Halloween and trick or treating to be on the 31st no matter what day of the week it falls.  This year, it will be on Sunday, 5 - 8 p.m.

I also live in WF and we are signed up on the Towns email so they sent an email saying this. If you go to your local town/city website it should have info! Just from chatting with people in my 'hood I heard that our trick or treating is from 6-9ish.

I would say it's Halloween. But I'm one of those people who think it's silly to have a holiday not on the actual holiday (like 4th of July, etc). I'm only handing out candy ON Halloween.

Here's an article from wral.  Most cities say they don't have official Halloween celebrations so it will be on Sunday.
