Because I can't stand to see the little bit left in my gonal f pens go to waste? Like Mdluvie said, that stuff is like liquid gold, I wish I could take the little bit from each pen and use it!
How do I know the exact dosage left? I mean maybe I am overthinking it, but don't they put some extra in, or just assume its 900 and do the math? I think I have 75 in one, and not sure about the other.
My RE nurse said that there is usually about 37 mm still in the tube even though it doesn't tell you that. I have mine still in the fridge...hoping of course that i don't need them again!!! I understand completely!

Why can't you? I use all my extra in my Follistim pen. I have never done Gonal-F.
You use that tiny bit in the end after you've pushed the pen down as far as it will go? I'd have to extract that with another needle...and then what do you do with it, keep it in a syringe until you have enough extra to inject?

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I hate wasting anything but I've never done Gonal-F. I have always found it odd that there is extra Follistim in those cartridges, but I use it. My last Follistim was supposed to have 900, but I got 5 dosages of 200 (total of 1000) out of it. Then I heard that sometimes there is extra. WooT!

My nurse told me to bring all the leftovers back to the office and they would empty them into a vial so we could use it if we need it. She also said gonal f is like liquid gold. I would guess by looking at the leftovers that I have 200 or so IUs in leftover.

With the Follistim pen, you just click and each click is a pre-measured amount. You keep using until you can't click anymore. There is about 100 IU extra in Follistim.

Hope its ok that I respond...my clinic would have me bring in my pens and they would draw out the excess with a syringe. That way, if you have to stim longer than the amount of medicine you have, they can get as much as they can. Call your clinic and see what they can do for you!

I have the gonal - f vials so it is a little easier for me to make sure I am getting it all. I miss it with menopur each night so that I only have to do one shot. You can't waste the liquid gold!!!

No wasting!! No no I won't! I will ask for an extra vial or something on Wednesday. I have plenty of needles.
yes, that stuff is so expensive! Sometimes when I would have a little bit extra, i'd just inject it all in. I didn't know that you could bring into dr's office to get the extra little bit out. My dr never mentioned it but it's good to know there's that option.
