Introducing a lovey

I have been trying to get DD to take something as a lovey, and have not had any luck.  I've tried a variety of things, but she just wants nothing to do with it at night.  I was really hoping for something that would help her get back to sleep/stay asleep at night instead of needing me.  Did your LO naturally latch onto a lovey, did you purposely introduce one and they accepted it?  Any suggestions?

Re: Introducing a lovey

  • I introduced a little Snoopy stuffed animal, but it took a long time before it meant anything to him.  I tried a couple of other animals too, but that one eventually stuck, probably because the kid is obsessed with dogs.  You could keep trying a particular animal/blanket, and maybe over time she'll form some attachment.

  • We introduced a taggie blanket to DD, but it took a long time for her to accept it. Finally at 13 months she learned to fall asleep by herself and she has been attatched to it since then. She did not have any interest in it until she learned to fall asleep on her own.

  • Guess I'll just have to keep trying.  Thanks!
