MW update and a question

I put in a call about my swelling/numbness/headaches and I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon--so that's all for now as far as that goes but I'll update tomorrow.

My question is how on earth do I get the smell of onion to go away?  I hate the idea of going out in public smelling like this.  I know that's silly but it's bugging me too b/c it's so strong.  I chopped an onion when I was making dinner last night and have had a shower and washed my hands a million times since then and I still stink.  Anyone have any home remedies?

ETA: I also meant to ask for some prayers and good vibes.  I have decided not to worry about this at all until after I see my MW tomorrow.  I keep telling myself that this is going to be just like my pregnancy with Ava (where I was monitored for pre-e because of a variety of symptoms, but my labs remained stable).  It would have been one thing to have something seriously wrong then (Thank God there wasn't) when I had no children at home, but this time around I have two small children to take care of and a husband who works 10 hours a day.  We do have family around but I really don't know how we would manage full-time if I were put on bedrest again (or worse)... however, I am trying not to get ahead of myself with my thoughts.  Staying positive...

  • If it's lingering on your hands, rub your fingers/hands on a stainless steel spoon while running them under water.

  • Lemon juice or vinegar, then wash again with regular soap.  In the future to prevent it, be sure to cut the onion and wash your hands immediately, preferably with a lemon soap.  That prevents the smell from getting into your skin and you smelling it forever.  :)

  • Stay positive, Kessler!  I had ALL of the symptoms you are describing (during my pregnancy with DS1); however, I NEVER showed signs of pre-e.  Was it a pain (literally)?  Yes.  However, like you said...it never amounted to anything seriously wrong.

Hang in there!  I'll be thinking of you until I get your update, tomorrow.

BTW - Is it sad that I felt like the healthiest person on the planet, yesterday, when I chose to dip apple slices in a tub of strawberry Cool Whip dipper vs. eating Boston Creme cake?  Wink

  • I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything serious. You can have mild pre-e and go on to deliver at full term. However, based on everything that you are posting, I'm worried about you. Only because I've been there and done that. You are exhibiting everything that I had before I was admitted to the hospital. Pre-e can be scary and it's okay to think positively, but you also need to be concerned about your health and be an advocate for it.

People will step up in a time of need for you, it always seems to work out that way. Try not to focus on how to handle childcare, but taking the best care of yourself. Even if you have to let the kids watch DVD's all day so you can relax. It's okay and don't beat yourself up about it. Please keep us posted after your appointment.

I am hoping for the best for you because I don't wish pre-e on ANYBODY!!
