i can't even imagine how much effort went into this. i wish i had the time, the energy, the creativity, and the sewing skills to make something like this!!
If I had a sewing machine, I'd totally do that. No seriously, I actually would.
My mom used to make stuff like that all.the.time when I was a kid, and I didn't realize how unusual it was until I was older (by which point I was making stuff for my younger brother). I guess it was the benefit of not having TV (although there are downsides too).

LOL I could do a big treasure map of the high seas and give them toy boats.
Actually, that would be really cool. I might have to borrow MIL's sewing machine...
ETA: Ben says he thinks sticking with cars would be better because toy cars are easier to get. He has a point. Do you think something like this would be good as a Christmas or 1st birthday present? Or do they need to be older?

That playmat was for her son's 2-yr birthday present - and he looks to like it! So it's good definitely by then. I have no idea about 1-yr though...hopefully a mama with a 1yr+ old will chime in!
and yes, please please pretty please make one!! so i can live vicariously through you.

I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of the treasure map! Toy boats are safer than toy cars too because you don't have to worry about those little wheels coming off and becoming choking hazards...
Re: mamas who sew - car playmat inspiration
Can I just say WOW?
