Cloth Diapering

Eek...yeast!

DS has a yeast infection.  I went out an bought sposies to use for the next couple days while we treat it.  :(

I plan on stripping my diapers and washing them multiple times.  What else do I need to go to get rid of the yeast?  Bleach?  What should I be doing regularly in my wash routine to help prevent it from coming back?

TIA

Re: Eek...yeast!

  • We had a few yeast rashes with DD and I would wash the diapers with my normal detergent and add drops of grapefruit seed extract to the load ( I would squeeze a bunch in there) and it seemed to kill the yeast.

  • We dealt with this a few weeks ago.  I had only used 3-4 cloth dipes until I was pretty sure it was yeast and switched to disposables.

For that CD load I added 1 tbs of bleach with my detergent to hot wash/cold rinse and then did another rinse with 1/2 cup vinegar.  I then washed everyone's clothes in hot water for about week.

For DD's bum I put a little lotramin AF (for athlete's foot) on it and it was clear in a couple days.  I used the dreaded 'sposies for a week just to be on the safe side.  No one wants yeast in their beautiful cloth!

    Best of luck!
