Baby Names

Can't fall in love w/a girl name

We have girl names that we like, but nothing that we love.  I want something "normal" but not overly popular.  Our DS is Landon Rollins H____.  I love DS's name, but I hate how popular Landon has become.  Last year in preschool he had to go by Landon H.  I don't want that for the next child if I can help it.  DH really loves Delaney, and I like it but I don't love it.  I also like Piper and Cate (I can't do Cate though b/c its my cousin's name).  I just can't find a name I love.

The middle name will be Theresa after my aunt.

I'm only 13 weeks, but we are finding out the gender in two weeks, because DH won't be able to go to my 20 week appointment.  DH wants to know what the baby is and I don't.  So, we really need to have the names figured out, so I won't question why he is agreeing to a name.  Crazy, I know.  :)

Does anyone have some suggestions for girl names?  I feel like I've been all over the internet and reading books, but still can't find one.  Thanks for any help.

  • I'm with you. I haven't found one I love yet either. I'm really hoping this one is a boy, because my boy name list is LONG!

  • Honestly, I think the concept that you'll be able to find a name that you both love to be a bit unrealistic.  Some people do, and that's great.  But by and large, if you wait for this, you may never find a name.

  • The names on our list were Anna, Leah, Stella, Rose, Abigail, Georgia, and Emma.

I also love Camille, Corrine, Julia, Rosalee, and Victoria.

I LOVE the sound of Anna Theresa.  Camille Theresa sounds really nice too.

  • Delaney was one of my favorite girl name, but my H didn't care for it.

Here are some others I like:

    Veronica

    Elizabeth

    Eva

    Anna

    Violet

    Corinne

    J - 9/6/09 L and A - 1/17/12
  • Not super trendy? Along the lines of Cate and Piper? I went to Nymbler and they offered Abigail, Lucy, Charlotte, Chloe, Riley, Sloane. They aren't really my style but Nymbler is fantastic imo.

I love the name Anne.  I haven't sold DH on it yet though.  Maybe I will have to keep trying :)   I have a niece named Camille (she was born 4 months ago).

    Thank you!

I think we got really lucky in choosing Landon's name.

I guess it will be me who may have to budge more on the name, since it is me making the middle name be Theresa.

I like Delaney, but I feel like it is going to be popular.  But maybe I'm wrong.  I just don't want the next child to be Name H. all through school.  Maybe this is just me being silly though since my name was popular when I was in school.

  • I've recently fell in love with the name Cove which is weird bc I'm all about names that have a meaning. When I told my husband this he was like awesome we can name the next week Penisula. Smart @ss

I really think Delaney had its 15 minutes just a couple years ago and fizzled out (I truly thought it would be the next Emma). It is a very nice name, and goes well with Landon and Theresa.

I hate Theresa though. It is my middle name, after my aunt. Hers is pronounced Ta-ressa...nobody ever told me so I got Ta-reesa (of course the normal way). One of those odd childhood quirks :-)

  • We are having our girl in 4 weeks and had a hard time finding a name we loved. Like you, we wanted something "normal" but not popular and we also considered Piper. What we fell in love with is the name Bea. Her full name will be Beatrix, but she'll go by Bea. I love it because it is old fashioned, simple yet unique, and not overly popular. I can also see her as a baby Bea, toddler Bea, high school Bea, and an adult Bea as well as old lady Bea. Some names sound cute for a baby but not for an adult. I also don't think you can get too mad at a naughty toddler Bea. :) too cute! middle name is still up in the air, but I'm thinking Beatrix Anne because my middle name is Suzanne, but Beatrix Suzanne is a mouthful!
