I posted earlier this week about the sudden swelling I had that started last weekend and ended up really bad by Monday night. I've had swelling with both pregnancies, but never this sudden or early so I called my MW's office Tuesday morning. The nurse in the office said to drink more water (I already drink about 10 glasses a day) and put my feet up. She said it sounded like I was just overdoing it. I will admit that that was probably true--we were busy last Sat-Mon, so I decided to get some help with the girls last week, if not for the swelling just for the awful headaches I've been having. Taking it easy for a couple days did help, but as soon as things got busy this weekend, I started having bad swelling again and now I also have this tingling/numbness in my hands and just feel really off. The tingling is driving me crazy. I keep shaking my hands out to try get them to feel normal and it's not helping. Any idea if this is normal or if sounds like something that could be related to the other symptoms?

Re: Why are my hands numb and tingly? Normal?
This freaked me out too... I didnt have any swelling when I was pregnant with Ben but I did with Nathan. I never had swelling in my hands but my feet and legs always went numb and tingly when they swelled up. If you start getting dizzy and sudden headaches I would put another call in to your midwife ASAP
I know that swelling can cause the numbness and tingling that you are referring to but please keep a close eye on how you are feeling. If you start having headaches or spots in your vision, put a call in. I'm thinking of you. Let me know if you need anything.
Is it possible it's carpal tunnel?
What happens if you get a neck massage? Does it help? (that nerve/muscle goes all the way down your arms and relieving tension in your neck could help you)
Given the swelling, headaches, and this new symptom, I'd be really tempted to put a call in just in case. Worse case, your mind can be eased. GL, and keep us posted!
I agree with Becky! And you might want to consider getting help with the girls a couple days a week (if you can). That might help you relax a little and help some of your symptoms. If resting makes it better it seems logical that if you don't slow down and get some self-ordered rest the doctor could put you on bedrest.
